MATAMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

MARCH MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Matamata County Council was attended by Crs. J. W. Anderson, chairman (Tirau), H. C. Rollett (Peria), S. H. Judd (Maungatautari), J. Bruce (Karapiro), W. S. Wilson (Matamata), K. S. Cox (Tokoroa) and W. H. Allen (Okoroire). Messrs. C. F. E. Barton (clerk) and M. E. Fitzgerald (engineer) were also in attendance. Leave of absence was granted to Cr. E. J. Darby (Putaruru). Cartage of Poles. Replying to a letter from the council, the Minister of Public Works said he would look fully into the question of the damage done to county roads during the cartage of material for the Arapuni-Claudelands power line. He would be pleased to receive a deputation on the subject but would not be in the vicinity of Matamata during his forthcoming trip to Hauraki Plains.---ReeeiVed. Okoroire Complaint. That his fence was being covered by cleanings from a council drain so that stock could get on to his property was the burden of a complaint forwarded by Mr. W. McKay, of Okoroire. He said his fence line would have to be cleared of debris for a distance of eight chains in order to give a cattleproof fence.—Left with the engineer. Wahrsroa Request. Messrs. M. E. Dickey and W. Dunlop, Waharoa, asked that something be done to the road leading ta their properties, as it was impossible to use a car on it after rain.-—Fieft in the hands of the. riding member and engineer with power to>. act. Bowser Wanted. Mr. G. B. Fryer, Tokoroa, asked permission to erect a petrol bowser opposite his store.—Granted subject to usual conditions. An Overdale Fence. Mr. T. D. Jones, Overdale, asked permission to put his boundary fence out to the edge of the formed road to enable him to cope with fern and weeds.—Granted subject to usual conditions. Accounts. Accounts totalling £11,562 10s 5d were passed for payment.
