TIRAU WATER SUPPLY.
SHORTAGE EXPERIENCED. Reporting to the Matamata County Council on Friday, the engineer stated that considerable difficulty had been experienced during the recent dry spell in keeping up an adequate supply of water for Tirau township. It had been ascertained that considerable leakage took place at drinking troughs not fitted with ball cocks, one of which was drawing off water at the rate of 800 gallons a day. It was further reported that water had been supplied to railways employees at Tirau. The council decided to write to the General Manager of Railways pointing out that water had been supplied to the local station, and that the council was surprised to consider laying water on for the railway employees,
