Following a discussion in committee by the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on Saturday evening on a circular received from the Auckland executive the following resolution was handed to the press: “ That this branch gives its unanimous support to the Provincial Executive in its attitude toward the increased killings which are being carried out at the Westfield Freezing Works.” It was explained that the attitude of 'he executive was that they were opposed to the granting of any further killing facilities to the Westfield Freezing Company.

“ It is all very well to assist the farmer on the land, but there is another aspect of production which must not be neglected by the new Government—the aspect of giving people access to the land," observed Mr. J. T. Hogan, M.P. for Rangitikei, when opening the Marton A. and P. Shew. There was no question about there being a land hunger, V.e added. He had been almost overwhelmed with correspondence from men anxious to get on the land and anxious to know what the Government’s proposals were. Every announcement by the Government had brought its fresh batch of letters, but he had no information to give. Still, it was a very healthy Indication that pecnle were not afraid to go on the land, and he hoped tho Government would give opportunities to those who, at the present time, did not have them.
