training shed finance. A meeting of the management committee of the above union was held in the Press office on Tuesday last, Mr. W. J. Miller presiding. The secretary reported that donations for the proposed training shed amounted to £44 15s, of which £42 13s had been collected in cash. Of the balance £1 Is was outstanding and the other guinea represented material. The balance at the bank amounted to £77 8s 9d, against which there was a cheque for £1 Is outstanding. So far as the shed was 'concerned the final position was that there was a fine central site available, timber estimated at £ls on the ground, work done to the value of £8 (blocks, etc.), and £76 in hand. The speaker suggested that immediate steps be taken to proceed with the work, members of the union becoming guarantors for the balance. Members expressed keen satisfaction with the statement and financial position, Mr. Miller stated that roughly two thirds' of the cost was in hand. Mr. C. D. Brown agreed and suggested that the bank be approached with a view to getting an overdraft by way of “ joint and several." On the motion of Messrs. Miller and Brown it was decided that Mr. Barcroft be asked to assist the union with plans and estimate, that the principals be made by a qualified man, that the necessary timber and other materials be ordered, and that tenders be called for erecting the building. Mr. Miller was appointed to take immediate steps to carry the resolution into effect. On the motion of Messrs. Griffiths and Miller it was decided to approach the bank with a view to obtaining an overdraft.

Thesecretary reported that as he was leaving Putaruru he would be resigning his position. This would he his fifth season locally, three of which he had been secretary. Mr. Miller asked that the resignation be withheld in the meantime until there was a full meeting of the union.

This was agreed to and Mr. J. R. O. Lochhead was appointed hon. secretary and treasurer pro tem.
