ELECTRIC RETICULATION.
ENGINEER’S REPORT. Work in the District. Included in the report of the Thames Valley Power Board engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod) to the last meeting of the board was the following:— Tauhei Back Road.—An extension of 30 chains of low tension has been made on the existing high tension pole on this road, and the transformer structure brought up to e.h.t. standard. Motumaoho Quarry.—On account of increased load the low tension line supplying this quarry has had extra copper installed. The line,has been overhauled, and the transformer platform brought up to the e.h.t. standard.
Patetonga-Maukoro 11,000 volt link.—Poles have been distributed along this route, and erection will start shortly. Walton.—The 11,000 volt and low tension extension along Piakoiti road has been completed, together with the low tension extension up Snake road and made alive on December 6. All services have been completed except two, and all installations except three. The transformer at McLean’s lias been changed from 3000 volts to 11,000 volts, a 10 k.v.a. being installed. On account of the change cf load centre the Walton transformer is being shifted to opposite Nicholl’s shop. The section from here to McLean’s transformer is being made suitable for 11,000 volts. Matamata. —On account of trouble on Bank’s’ transformer this was replaced by a 25 k.v.a. transformer on December 2. Due to increased loading the low tension circuit from Stock road to Egan’s was changed for 7/14 cable. Putaruru.—A new low tension has been installed on the town transformer, and the line loading balanced as near as possible.
Maungatautari.—Owing to increased load the 7A k.v.a. transformer at McVicar’s was changed for a 15 k.v.a. on December 22. A fairly severe storm passed over the district on January 4, blowing high and low tension fuses throughout the area. A direct stroke of lightning occurred on a service line pole at Scott’s splintering the sapwood, and Wallace’s transformer had two bushings broken. Te Poi.—To give better general service it was found necessary to change the position of the Te Poi school transformer to a point nearer the load centre.
