The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London oifice, dated February 8, 1929, advising Smithfield delivered' prices averaged for week ending that date as follows:
New Zealand Wethers and Maidens —Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 7d, 571 b to 641 b 65d, 651 b to 721 b sid; other brands, 561 b and under 6Sd, 571 b to 641 b 6id, 651 b to 721 b 53d.
New Zealand ewes, 641 b and under, 4id.
New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality (new season), 361 b and under lOd, 371 bto 421 b lOd, 431 bto 501 b 6id; selected brands (new season), 361 b and under 92d, 371 b to 421 b 92d; other brands (new season), first quality, 361 b and under 9Ad, 371 b to 421 b 9Jd: second quality, 301 b to 321 b average, 9d.
Australian Lambs.—Victorian, first quality, 361 b and under 88d, 371 b to 421 b Sid.
Argentine Lambs. First quality, 361 b and under 7!d, 371 b to 421 b 7id. New Zealand Beef.—Ox hinds sd, cow fores 32d, cow hinds 4Ad. Argsntine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores 41d, ox hinds 6id. New Zealand Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 bto 801 b 7ld, 811 bto 99ib 7td, 1001 b to 1201 b 7d; baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b 7d. Lambs. —Consumption is improving slowly,' but market weaker owing to heavier supplies. Mutton: Market quiet. Beef.—Market firm with good demand. New Zealand Porker Pigs: Market steady; in good demand. New Zealand Baconer Pigs: Market is slow despite small supplies.
