LOAN PROPOSALS.
MINUTES CHALLENGED. !l Petition Against. At Monday’s meeting of the Putaj ruru Town Board Mr. A. E. Barr i Pr°wn challenged the minutes when the usual question in regard to their confirmation was put. At that time the only members present were Messrs. Barr Brown, J. C. Tomalin, W. Yandle and the chairman. In referring to the matter the speaker stated that he did not understand the proposals were to be forwarded to the Loans Board but were simply agreed to by the board for j the discussion of further details. Mr. Yandle stated that he admitted he did not know much about procedure but that was his view. On the arrival of Messrs. Bent and Neal the position was explained and both agreed the minutes were correct.
Mr. Bent : What would be the use of us passing them if they were not forwarded to the Loans Board? Mr. Tomalin stated he understood they were to he forwarded but did not know they would be advertised. He was deaf, however, and did not catch everything said
Mr. Barr Brown : Ky view is that we agreed to them and were to settle the details at a later 'nesting. The chairman rrther warmly asked if Mr. Barr Brown accused the clerk of faking the minutes. The member disavowed any such. intention. ,
Continuing, the speaker stated that the position had been fully explained to Mr. Barr Brown at last meeting. He had asked the same question no less than eight times. The whole procedure was exr’-'-’od three times from the chair and once by Mr. Lochhead, who was a member of the deputation. Members of the deputation had remarked on the childish questions and waste of time at the meeting. Too much latitude was given. The question was then put and the minutes were confirmed with Messrs. Barr Brown and Yandle dissenting.
