The Matamata A. and P. Associatioh has decided to continue and to hold a show next year. Last year the show was abandoned. Mr. Eric Penwharden, from Taranaki, has been appointed manager of the Tokoroa cheese factory. There were 60 applications for the position. At the last meeting of the Puta-' ruru Town Board it was shown that 38 per cent, of the current year’s rates had been paid to date and that the amount of outstanding rates taken over from the county had been reduced.to £47 12s 7d.
Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P., advises that the Minister of Education has approved an additional grant for the Putaruru school. The amount which has now been authorised is for the erection of a teacher’s small room and also to provide access to the back of the present school building.
Members of tile Putaruru Town Board inspected portion of the loan works on Tuesday, more especially in regard to crossings over the footpaths, and a definite policy in regard to these was agreed upon. Instances of wilful damage to new footpaths were noted and it was decided to take action against offenders.
