The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated February 17, 1928, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follow:
N.Z. Wethers and Maidens (new season). —561 b and under 7d, 571 b to 641 b 6sd, 651 b to 721 b sid. N.Z. Lambs. —Canterbury quality (new season), 361 b and under 10sd, 371 b to 421 b lOid, 431 b to 501 b lOid, seconds 9ld ; selected brands (new season), 361 b and under 10sd, 371 b to 421 b lOid ; other brands : first quality (new season), 361 b and under 9id, 371 b to 421 b 9id ; second quality (new season), 301 b to 321 b average 9£d.
Australian Lambs (Victorian).— First quality, 361 b and under Sid. Argentine Lambs.—First quality, 361 b and under Bd, 371 b to 421 b 8 id. N.Z. Beef.—Ox fores 3!d, ox hinds 4id, cow fores 3?,d, cow hinds 4d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores 3sd, ox hinds 6d.
Argentine Frozen Beef.—Ox fores 33d, ox hinds sid. Frozen Pork. Porkers, 601 bto 801 b 7Jd, 811 b to 991 b 6id, 1001 b to 1201 b 63d ; baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b 6id. The lamb market is easier owing to heavier supplies, but the consumption is good. Stocks of mutton are light, there being a good demand for lightweights. The beef market is slow.
