SHOOTING.
OKOROIRE GUN CLUB. Presentation. A pleasant function took place at the Okoroire Springs on Wednesday, when members of the Okoroire Gun Club met together to do honour to Mr. D. N. Hay, a prominent member of the club, who has recently entered the bonds of matrimony. Mr. E. 1,. Smith presided, and in a neat speech expressed his own and his fel-low-members’ high esteem for their guest. In handing him a beautiful silver entree dish the speaker wished Mr. and Mrs. Hay every prosperity and success in the future. Messrs. F. Anderson and J. Amundsen also paid a tribute to the sportsmanship of their fellow member. Mr. Hay feelingly responded, disclaiming any credit for any assistance he had been to the club. Before dispersing. Mr. Smith stated that he would be leaving the district very soon, and he wished to present a cup for annual competition by club members. He would like to see a miniature cup given annually until some one had won the trophy outright. Mr. Smith’s offer was accepted with thanks, and both he and Mrs. Hay were accorded musical honours.
