ARAPUNI FIRE.

A short but spectacular fire occurred at Arapi'.ni about 4 p.m. on Sunday last, when a large packing case containing transformers became alight. The case was situated at the southern end of the step-up station, and in close vicinity to a stack of drums of transformer oil, and a large number of motor cars parked by visitors. Luckily the wind kept the flames away from the cars, which were soon moved out of danger. Public Works officials were quickly on the spot, and prevented the fire from spreading, and beyond the cracking of the insulators little damage was done though at one period the situation was highly dangerous.
