SALE AT MATAMATA. Demand Not Keen, The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, Ltd., conducted a sale of pedigree Friesian cattle for Mr. E. C. Banks, the Matamata breeder, in the Matamata yards on Thursday. Although the animals offered undoubtedly contained some of the best Friesian blood in the Dominion and America the prices were in no way commensurate with the quality offered and the bidding for many animals failed to reach the most reasonable reserve placed on them by the owner. There were possibly several reasons for this, among them being the adverse weather conditions and the fact that in no way had the animals been prepared for sale. Mr. Banks has apparently been overstocked, so that the animals on offer were not look- | ing at their best. i The highest price realised was 40gns | for a two-year daughter of the sire Rosevale King Sylvia, No. 1221 (son of Burkeyje Sylvia Posch), out of Rozine Fayne de Kol, which was purchased by Mr. C. Gooseman, of Hamilton, on behalf of a client. None of the bulls offered reached the reserve. Bargains were also obtained in pedigree Berkshire pigs.
