STOCK SALES.
MATAMATA. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., held their regular stock sale at Matamata last week. There was little demand for young stock, but beef cattle realised well. Prime fat cows, £V .to £8 2s; fat cows £5 to £6 15s; forward conditioned cows, £3 10s to £4 15s; poor stores, 25s to £2 10s; potting bulls, £3 5s to £4; steers, Shorthorn, £6 10s to £7 9s. Dairy cows; Jerseys, up to £lO. MORRINSVILLE. There was only a fair yarding at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale lat Morrinsville on Friday. The market for beef was poor. No fat steers were offered, while for cow and heifer beef there was not a big demand. The best price for fat heifers was £6 19s and for cows £7 10s. Dairy Cattle were yarded in fairly large numbers, the highest bid accepted being £l3 5s * for a good class of Jersey heifer, cows (close to profit) going up to £l2. There appeared to be little alteration in the values of the sheep. There was only a light yarding of pigs. The demanidl for fats was not very keen, but a sharp rise was noticed in the weaner prices, which brought 25s 6d. A sow in pig was sold for £7 15s. Only small portions of a special entry by Mr. D. Moroney, of Walton, were sold. The prices are:— Beef: Prime fat heifers £6 19s, lighter £5 12s 6d to £5 15s; fat cows £6 to £7 10s, unfinished £4 5s to £4 18s, fresh conditioned £3 to £4, stores I £1 15s to £2; Jersey in calf heifers £5 'los, empty heifers £2 to £2 2s; potting bulls £3 5s to £5 ss. Dairy Cattle: Choice Jersey heifers £l3 ss, others £4 to £6; cows (close to profit) £ll 5s to £l2, others £5 to £B. Sheep: Fat wethers 29s 6d; fat ewes 19s 3d; light fat hoggets 21s; aged ewes 10s 7d to 13s Id ; store lambs 8s 6d to 12s 2d. Pigs: Medium baconers £3 6s to £3 ■ 10s, lighter £2 17s to £3; porkers £2 I 9s; best weaners £1 to 25s 6d, others 16s (id to 19s; slips 375; sows in pig, ‘ £4 15s to £7 15s.
HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale in the Frankton yards »n Tuesday, there was a full yarding of jjeef (principally cow and heifer), fair yarding of store cattle, good yarding of fat and store sheep and pig's were yarded in the usual large numbers. Prices reached in the beef pens were easier than those reported the previous week. Medium fat steers sold to £lO 10s, light £8; prime heavy cows and heifers £9 5s to £9 10s, lighter prime £S 2s to £8 15s; plain heavy cows, £6 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d; well done young cows, £5 10s to £6; light young- cows £4 10s to £4 15, unfinished and rough £3 Ss'to £4 Is. The advertised line of 21 year Here-ford-Shorthorn cross empty heifers realised from £3 6s to £4 ss. Sheep: The competition for fat and store .sheep was anything but bright, and all yarded sold at reduced rates. Prime fat shorn hoggets 24s 3d, fat ewes 20s, 4-tooth store wethers 22s 3d to 23s 6d, best 2-tooth wethers 19s to 21s 3d, small 16s to ISs 6d; mixed age empty store ewes, 14s; 2-tooth to f.m. ewes in lamb, 18s Od. Pigs: Fats sold at slightly advanced rates, while stores realised late values. Best baconers £4 to £4 6s, medium £3 12s to £3 18s; good porkers to light baconers £3 3s to £3 10s; medium porkers, £2 10s to £2 17s; wellfinished light £2 to £2 ss; stores, 33s to 38s; slips, 15s to 255. CLEARING SALES. MR. V. CHITTY’S. At Mr. V. Chitty’s clearing sale at Tauwhare on Wednesday 104 Jersey, Holstein and Shorthorn cows, mostly second and third calvers, averaged £9 10s. Jersey cows sold from £8 10s to £16,. Shorthorns £7 to £l4 10s, Holsteins £6 10s to £l2 5s ; springing Jersey heifers £S 10s to £ll 11s, Holsteins £7 11s to £ll, Shorthorns £6 5s to £7 10s ; Jersey heifer calves £2 10s, Shorthorn and Holstein £2 5s ; three bulls running with herd £8 to £ll 11s ; a good line of in-lamb ewes sold at 26s 6d, good woolly hoggets 16s 6d ; farm horses £l2 to £22 10s, i two hacks £5 to £7 10s.
