FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE.

KILL AFFECTED ANIMALS. “ Neither Government, farmers, unions, nor any one connected with, the milk and beef industry should rest till something like a League of Nations Animals Act is formed to insure the immediate slaughter of animals infected, and the isolation of areas where either infectious lung or foot and mouth diseases exist. This is imperative if we are ever again to have a profitable and continuous overseas market for our pedigree animals, or if we are safely to import milk, meat, or animal products from any other country where these diseases are allowed to continue. Our British milk and meat industry j will not be absolutely safe till every infected animal in Europe is immediately slaughtered, the farmer well paid for it, and the carcase destroyed, so that not one ounce of meat or milk is ever allowed to be consumed or reach the public in any country. ’’ —A British Veterinary authority.
