BANKING BUSINESS.
PUTARURU BRANCH. It is learned that the Bank of New Zealand proposes to build a commodious banking chamber, with residence attached, for its Putaruru branch. The business portion will be about three-quarters the size of the banking chamber in the Matamata Branch, while the residence will accommodate the manager and his family and probably another member of the staff. The building will be in wood, and will possibly be completed in two months’ time, the Bank making every effort to expedite its erection. Also, the Bank of Australasia are having premises in Kensington street, opposite the post office, specially altered for the purposes of twice-week-ly agency at Putaruru. Some doubt apparently exists as to the location of the section on which the branch for the Bank of New Zealand is to be built. It is the section between Mr. T. F. Valentine’s pharmacy and Messrs. Tasker and Company’s drapery establishment, facing the corner of Princes street and Main street.
