PUTARURU RAILWAY YARDS.
EXTRA ACCOMMODATION. Besides the construction of the private siding* for the Arapuni contractors at the Putaruru railway yards, the growth of traffic will probably mean the provision of further siding accommodation for general use. The filling for the Arapuni siding has left enough space for the conversion of the dead end against the brick water tank into a loop line round the tank. This loop will probably be completed by the gang at present laying the Arapuni siding before they leave PutUruru and it is also expected that they will instal adead end siding at the other end of the yards out towards the gate at Main street entrance, the authorities having advised the Chamber of Commerce that this has been authorised.
Mr. Collett, who is in charge of the gang, has received notice of his transfer to Artrur’s Pass, South Island. He has been in these parts for 18 months supervising the relaying of the main line from Hinuera to Putaruru.
