THE MOONLIGHT CLUB. P ancy Dress Dance. A plain and fancy dress dance was held by the Tokoroa Moonlight Club in the Tokoroa Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening last week. Some 30 couples attended, including* visitors from Putaruru, and with Mrs. Sloper as pianiste and Mr. Ormond Lilly as M.C.-the entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed. Prizes were given for the best fancy costumes, the judging being by popular vote. In the ladies’ division Miss Sloper proved the winner, and in the men’s division Mr. Lilly, while in the children’s division little Miss L. Hamilton and Master Sloper were prize winners. Those in fancy dress were as follows:—Misses L. Ashworth (Alsatian Peasant), D. Ashworth (Highland Lassie), Milne (Weldon’s Fashions), M. Milne (Japanese), Bird (Butterfly), I. Watkins (Gipsy Fortune Teller), Lock (Tokoroa Moonlight Club), Sloper (If Winter Comes), Burgess (Spanish Gipsy), Mrs. Keen (Nurse*), Mrs. Dykes (Bridget), Mrs. Thackwell (Dutch Girl); Messrs. 1.. Hamilton (Arab), O. Lilly (Sheik), 1,. McHale (Modern Greek), S. Keen (Pierrot), Conn (Clown), Milne (Jester), S. Boot (Newspaper), L. Newell (Uncle Tom), Lock (Tennis), Carruthers (Weary Willie), Henderson (Darky), Sunday (Milkmaid), A. Forbes (Cowboy), Thackwell (Dutchman). Children—Miss L. Hamilton (Shepherdess), Nancy Hamilton (Harem Girl), Jane Hamilton (Spring), Martin Sloper (Shepherd). The supper was well up to the widely-known Tokoroa standard. Mr. A. Forbes obliged the company with the music for an extra dance.
