INSTALLING ELECTRIC POWER,
A BUSY PERIOD. Greater Industrial Load. Reporting- to Tuesday’s meeting of I the Thames Valley Electric Power Board, the manager, Mr. R. Sprague, stated:— “ Consumers: The month of August was an exceptionally busy one for connecting consumers to the board’s mains. One 40 h.p., J 32 h.p., 1 20 h.p. and 2 15 h.p. motors were connected on meter rates, and 67 houses using- heating and lighting were also connected. Fifty-six motors on farms for milking* purposes were added to the mains, which now makes a total of 073 motors on farms connected and running, of which 879 are 2 h.p. motors for milking purposes. There are also 253 motors on meter. The total number of consumers connected to the board’s mains, including the boroughs of; Te Aro-ha and Thames, is 1296. “ Within the next few weeks there will be connected to the board’s mains an industrial load, comprising dairy factories, flaxmills, etc., amounting to approximately 250 h.p.”
