ACCIDENT AT ARAPUNI.

A WORKMAN INJURED. While working on a shaft about Bft deep laying the concrete foundations of the bridge at the site of the head race at Arapuni on Tuesday morning a workman named Mr. John Olsen was struck by a bucket filled with “ slurry ” (wet concrete). His mate, Mr. J. Faithful, was lowering it down from above with a hand winch when the handle slipped and the bucket .struck the unfortunate* main below with a violence that inflicted severe contusions on his back and ribs and injuries to his right arm. Dr. Haslett, of Putaruru, was summoned, and on examination ordered the patient’s removal to the Waikato Hospital for further observation and treatment. The injured man was accordingly taken thither by the evening train.
