The day ended with a very enjoyable social in the evening, during which the prize money was distributed. Much of the day’s success was due to the work of the sports committee’s able secretary, Mr. S. Keen. ANNUAL HALL MEETING. The trustees of the Tokoroa Memorial Hall held their annual meeting last Saturday evening. Owing no doubt to the bad weather the attendance was small. The president, Mr. J. Price, was in the chair. Mr. J. Mossop (secretary) and Mr. Len McHale (treasurer) were also present. Mr. J. Mossop presented a statement of accounts for the financial year ending March 31 last. The receipts as shown totalled £9B 14s 6d and the expenditure £B7 10s 9d, leaving a credit balance on the year’s working of £ll 3s 9d. Included in the receipts was the sum of £SO, being the final payment of the £l5O originally voted by the Matamata County Council towards the building of a memorial hall at Tokoroa. It had been a point of discussion during the year as to whether the £SO should be used to line the -hall or to reduce the mortgage. Finally the decision went in favour of the reduction of the mortgage and as such it now appeared on the expenditure in the year’s accounts. The statement of accounts was adopted by the meeting.

A letter was read from the Tokoroa Moonlight Club asking that the trustees consider the advisability of installing a heater in the hall, thus making a social evening more attractive to the non-dancers. This matter was discussed at some length, final decision being postponed until inquiries as to costs, etc., had been made. The secretary was directed to write to the insurance company holding the covering policy on the hall asking if all risks from the use of electric lightas installed in the hall were covered by the policy. A donation of cups having been made to the hall by the Young Ladies’ Leap Year Ball Committee, a vote of thanks was passed to them by the meeting for this welcome addition to hall crockery. It having been the intention of the Hall Business Committee to hold a social about the date of the next full moon and it now being reported that a like intention to hold a social was also on the Football ClUb’s programme, it was decided oit the motion of Mr. McHale that the Hall Committee postpone theirs.
