THE KOMI CLUB.
ANNUAL SPORTS MEETING. Favoured with ideal weather the Mokai Sports Club held its annual meeting on Good Friday, and besides the local populace large numbers of visitors were attracted from other j parts of the district. The arrangeI ments being in capable hands, all events were started in good time, and exceedingly close finishes reflect much credit on the handicappers. As several of the local runners and axemen were competing at other meetings the younger athletes had a good opportunity to prove themselves, with the result that some very creditable performances were made, especially by the yong axemen, Glover and Mundy. In the chopping events Mr. S. N. Hodge acted as starter, with Messrs. W. Andrews, H. Michael and J. H. Flavell as judges. Mr. T. McGregor handled the running events in good style, while Messrs. G. Kellow and J. Kaill watched the interests of the children, whose races provided much amusement for the spectators, and incidentally much satisfaction for themselves, as each child competing would receive a prize. Special thanks are due to Mr. Fitzgerald and the Public Works staff for their kindness in grading a track for the mid-field running events.
