POWER BOARD’S CHARGES.
TOWN v. COUNTRY. An Interesting Comparison. At Tuday’s meeting of the Thames valley Electric Power Board Mr. Gauvain, engineer, reported that considerable trouble had been taken to ascertain an average consumption by consumers on the hat rate. It was computed that a comparison with the water ohnrges showed that consumers with meters paid from 20 per cent to GO per rent, or an average of about 33 per cent more than those without meters, to that the Board’s decision to make a 50 per cent increase to flat rate consumers (without motors) v-as a fair one. Mr. Strange said that the flat rate consumers had the advantage of being able to use the light continuously and the increased charges would be warranted. Mr. Flatt considered that many of the farmers were using more power than they should be. Mr. Strange moved that the charges already decided upon be adhered to. It was agreed that no motion need be passed and that the charges already in operation would therefore continue.
