A WEDDING OCCASION. A pleasing ceremony took place at the residence of" Mr. and Mrs. W. Mitchell, when a number of friends paid them a surprise visit to welcome the newly-married couple home. Songs, elocutionary items., and anecdotes helped to pass a very pleasant evening, and at the conclusion Mr. T. Lakin, on behalf of those present, presented Mrs. Mitchell with a handsome suede handbag, apd Mr. Mitchell with a case of Loewe pipes. A happy evening was terminated with the usual toasts and fraternal songs. SHEEP FARMING. During the past week three large mobs of sheep arrived in the district, 1800 for Mr. Alan Pearce and 1000 for Mr. T. Stringer. HEAVY CROP OF RAPE. Mr. W. G. Barnett has a splendid crop of 26 acres of rape on which a large number of sheep are depastur- ' ing. The crop is so heavy that fully l grown sheep can scarcely be seen in it. The land is evidently eminently suitable for the growing of this valuable fodder crop. THIRD CUT OF LUCERNE. Mr. H. Barnett has successfully ■harvested his third cut of lucerne hay and his lucerne paddocks stand out prominently during this dry spell an object lesson to the neighbouring farmers.
