PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday evening. Present— Messrs Crewo (cliainnan). Miller, Wakeman, Corbett, and Farrell, Minutes of previous mootings w ere read and continued. CORRESPONDENCE. Letter fnnu Masterton Hoad Board, enclosing the following resolution, passed by that Board at its last meeting, and hoping the l'ahiatuu Board would take action iu the matter :—" That inasmuch as no ultra-delimination is specified in the Hoad Hoard Act, 1883, sec. 4, constituting new Hoad Districts, it is all important that a minimum extent and value of rateable property be embodied therein to prevent tho multiplicity and reduction of road 1 districts to au absurdity. That whereas 1 errors are made and great injuries are 1 inflicted on individual settlers, whether through oversight or otherwise, by dragging their properties from one district into another, irrespective of their wishes and the natural outlet of those properties, and that the local bodies are helpless to rectify those errors and readjust tho ] boundaries thus affected seeing that the | 9th section makes it prohibitive. That this Board therefore submits that section I 9 of the Hoad Board Act, IHB2, should be : repealed and greater facilities granted, • empowering counties to make such alterations as will remove those inflictions, provided always that the co-terminus boon lanes of County Ridings and Hoad Boards ire not interfered with. OVERSEER'S REPORT, The overseer rtqsirted on the following work*:— Tiraiunea Hoad.—On thi* road the mt* have been tilled in for a distance of about two miles, and the Pahiatna end of the road is in a very fair condition. MiiuganimuraiiiA Hoad.—The table drains have been cleaned out throughout the whole length of present rood, and tho timber has also been removed that fell during the late gahw. The contractors on tho formation contract have cleared the timber, and rougldy formed about 7 chains. Toritoa Road.—-On this row! it was found necessary to remove fallen timber ; likewise some small slips that were block mg tho table drains. The formation on contract No. 4 is pretty well advance*!. Two culverts have been made and the oubanluneut partly tilled. In tlie cutting at this end of same contract there is a good deal to be done to get the grade as shown on plan. A very good grade lias been got the remainder of the length. Would recmmneiid progress payment of AT2O. On contract No. 3 there are übostl 40 chains felled and partly cleared. TESTIMONIAL. The Chairman mid as this was the last report they would receive from Mr McMillan, iio would suggest that a testimonial be presented to him. He (the Chairman) felt satisfied that Mr McMillan had given every *atig f action to the Hoard. On the motion of Mr Miller, seconded by Mr Farrell, it was roaolvod that a testimonial, expressing the satisfaction of the Bourd at the manner in which Mr McMillan had conducted the overseership ol roads, he signed by the Chairman and lnombern, and presented to him. ACCOUNT*. The following accounts were passed for fiaymont: —Clerk, salary, .1*10; Nicholson, amp, 10s; Avery 4k Co., grass seed, A 3 16* 8d; wages, ATT 11s 8d; cost of gravel reserve (acre), £3O; transfer, Ac., of same, £5 3d ; road plan, A**2 5s Od. ALTERINO TIME OF HEETINi). It was resolved that for the future the meetings of the Board bo held at 7 p.ui. instead of 7.30. The Board thou adjourned.
