- Pahiatua Star and Eketahuna Advertiser
The Pahiatua Star and Eketahuna Advertiser was co-founded by Alexander Black and Edward Haggen in 1886. Black became the sole proprietor of the Star only two months after the first issue.
Rival newspaper the Pahiatua Herald published its first issue on 24 May 1893, opening an office across the street from the Star office. After a few months of competition, the Pahiatua Herald bought out the Star, which ceased publication on 6 September 1893.
