WAIMATA ROAD BOARD.

A MEETING of the Waimata Road Board was held on Tuesday evening, the 23rd mst., in the County Council Chambers. Present : Mr. Feri is (chairman), and Messrs. Gray and Trimmer. The Chairman reported that the committee appointed to wait on Mr. DeLautour with reference to reserving a roadway .rotn section 37D to block F had been favorably received. The necessary land will be set apart for the purpose through sections 6 and 7. block F. Contract Abandoned, The contractor Chute abandoned the contract for clearing Sheehan street, and forfeited his deposit of one pound. It was decided to let this work stand over for the present. Letters. A letter was received from Mr. Bamford, Land Registry Office, Napier, informing the Board that the lithographed plans according to which the sales in Gisborne North had been effected, were duly registered. Tenders. The following tenders were received for making drains in Russell street :—

It was resolved that should Talbot refuse to go on with the work that Mr. Corcoran’s tender be accepted. Mr. Grant was authorised to lay off the work. Tracing of District. Mr. Grant was instructed to prepare a tracing of the district. Road Boards Merging. A letter was received from the County Council on the subject. It was resolved to let the matter stand over until older road boards indicated the course they would pursue. Payments. It was ordered that Mr. Brosnahan be paid £7 14s. for work done in Russell street. Clearing. Members in town were authorized to pass works and make payments for clearing works shortly to be finished. General Rates. It was resolved that a rate of in the £ be struck, to be due, and payable on the 29th January. Pound. Resolved that notice be given that on and after the 19th of January, 1885. a’l stock found straying in the Waimata Road Board District be impounded Further that at the next meeting the Board do take into its c-.nsider ition the appointment of a ranger, and the erection of a pound.
