TE ARAI SCHOOL.
Tuft gathering that took place on th* school ground of the children of Te Arai . District School on Thursday last was in 1 every way quite a success. The children ' amused themselves at various games until about 3.30, when over 60 little ones sat down to an al fresco spread, consisting mainly of an enormous quantity of cakes, lollies, fruits, &c. The chairman Mr. Evans and other members of the school committee were present t.nd rendered great assistance in carrying out the programme. Mrs U’ren and Mrs Watts were indefatigable in arranging matters. After the feast was all over the children drew for prizes which were exhibited on a Christmas tree. The chairman presented a handsome book given by Mrs Watt to Miss Jessie Carrington for good conduct. Before breaking up Mr. Bolton andressed a few words to the children. Three hearty cheers were then given for the ladies and the school committee for having provided so pleasant a day’s amusement.
