Narrow Escape of the Hawea.

[Own Correspondent.] Wellington, November 20. The Hawea, from Lyttleton, had a narrow escape from going ashore yesterday morning outside Wellington heads. During foggy weather a strong tide had carried her close in to Sinclair Head, when the Captain thought he was off Cape Taourakira. Land being seen, the engines were stopped and the vessel put astern, and then steered W. by N. to get well out of the Bay. Ten minutes afterwards rocks were seen right ahead. The vessel was put astern, but before she got sternway on she had drifted within her length of the rocks. The vessel was then headed southward and got clear. Although very close to the rocks she never touched.
