The Unemployed.

[Own Correspondent.] Auckland, November 5. The Mayor called a meeting of the unemployed to-day, There were about 300 present, many of whom appeared to have come for the fun of the thing. Resolutions were ultimately passed asking the Council not to let any more contracts until the surplus labor had been absorbed at day work, Dunedin, November 6. The Mayor received yesterday from the Minister of Public Works a reply to a telegram respecting the unemployed, stating that work would be re-opened at Mosgiel, The Corporation has taken on about a dozen men.
