Accidents, Offences, &c.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 20. The small trawling schooner Ocean Queen has gone ashore at Worser’s Bay, the anchors having parted. She is full of water. No insurance. The owners, Messrs Eckford and Outram, valued her at £5O. Hugh Shortland, who some months ago was arrested in England, charged with the murder of his wife, arrived here by the Doric on Friday last. He has written to the New Zealand Times giving an account of his arrest, and says he trusts to be able to give a practical form to the principle of international right, by representing his case for State remonstrance and reparation at the bar of the New Zealand House of Representatives, simultaneously with raising some point in the House of Commons.
