[Per United Press Association.] Napier, October 20. Subscriptions are being raised for the purpose of erecting a memorial for the late Father Forrest. The amount required is about £2OO. Chiarini’s Circus was considerably damaged on Saturday by the high winds then prevailing, but the performances were not interrupted. The attendance in the evening was enormous. Auckland, October 20. Gold prospecting is about to be undertaken in the Hokianga district by Thames miners. The Triumph’s official trip takes place next Thursday. 650 invitations have been issued. An enquiry has been held respecting the late railway accident, the officials being extremely reticent. In the three prosecutions last week relative to the season tickets, the railway department has been cast in costs amounting to about £2O, the magistrate dismissing the cases. Dunedin, October 20. Mr. T. L. Shepherd ex-M.H.R., remains in the hospital in a somewhat critical condition, his left side being paralysed.
