Dunf.din, October 16.
Thomas L. Sheppard, formerly M.H.R. for the Goldfields, was found in an insensible condition yesterday night at the corner of Manse and High streets, and was removed to the hospital, where it was found he was suffering from a shock of paralysis. He was conscious, but his left side was powerloss. Doubts are entertained of his recovery* Shopperd has been in Dunedin in a despond ent condition for several mouths, having had no employment. The gentleman was well known throughout the colony by the soubriquet of “ Smiling Tommy.”
The Salvation Army lately was mobbed at Toronto, and pelted with rotten eggs. A magnificent assortment of new type at the Telephone office.
