A Contractor Killed.

[Own Correspondent.] Auckland, September 26. Gavin Miller Darwell, one of the contractors for the new Presbyterian Church, now in course of erection at Surrey Hills, was killed yesterday afternoon. Part of the building had been put up, when a sudden gust of wind blew it down. Darwell was struck violently by the falling timber, his head being completely crushed. Death was instantaneous. Another man named Percy Lipscombe, who at the time was conversing with Darwell inside the building, jumped through the opening and escaped unhurt.
