Fatal Accident to a Constable.
[Own Correspondent.] Christchurch, September 23. Constable Cartmell was run over by a railway truck which was being shunted at Sheffield station on Saturday night. The front wheel passed over Cartmell’s thigh, close to the groin, and he also sustained serious internal injuries. He was brought to the hospital by special train, but died yesterday. Deceased has been in the police force for ten years. He was 59 years of age and formeily served in the Royal Irish Constabulary. He was much respected.
