Early Closing.
PUNISHING A DEFAULTER. [Own Correspondent.] Wellington, September 23. A good deal of amusement has been caused by the mode adopted by the Early Closing Association to punish a draper who, after agreeing to close at 9 o’clock on Saturdays, broke the agreement. A brass band played the “ Dead March ” in front of his premises last Saturday evening, and speeches were delivered to thousands who assembled. The demonstrations will be continued on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
