War between China and Japan.
[Reuter’s Telegrams.] Hong Kong, September 1. The report regarding the declaration of war by China telegraphed yesterday refers to Japan, not to France, a dispute having arisen between the Chinese and Japanese regarding Loo Choo Islands, the soverignty of which is claimed from China by Japan. It is generally believed that hostilities between those countries are imminent.
