Wellington News.
[Per Press Association.] Wellington, August 28. At a meeting of the Atkinson party yesterday afternoon there were 50 present, and two others were accounted for. Mr. J. W. Thomson was in the chair. A resolution was carried “ That Major Atkinson form the Ministry.” Mr. Hutchinson, ex M.H.R., left for Dunedin yesterday, where he intends to permanently reside. [from our own correspondent.] Fifty-one members were present at a caucus yesterday afternoon, when it was decided that Major Atkinson should form an administration out of his own followers. Doubts are now entertained as to the stability of the Atkinson Ministry, and it is expected that another defeat will ensue. In that case it is rumored that the Hon. Mr. Waterhouse will be the next man entrusted with the task.
