Franco-Chinese War.
CRITICISM ON FBENCH POLICY. (reuter’s telegrams.) Paris, August 26. The French press generally in their leading articles angrily resent the criticisms of the English papers as to the French bombardment of the Foochow arsenal, which they have described as merciless in character. Hong Kong, August 26. Reports to hand state that fully a thousand Chinese were killed and over three thousand wounded, during the bombardment of the Foo Chow Arsenal by the French fleet.
[Per United Press Association.] Wellington, August 27. The telegraph department notify that telegrams for Foo Chow can only be sent at sender’s risk in consequence of the war now pending.
