The New Government.
[Per Press Association.] Wellington, August 28. Major Atkinson, the Hon. George McLean, Mr. E. Wakefield, and Mr. E. Mitchelson, will be sworn at 2.30 this afternoon as members of the Government. The portfolios have not yet been determined. The other Ministers will probably be known this afternoon. 2.42 p.m.—The four Ministers have jus proceeded to Government House to be sworn in.
The portfolios have been arranged as follows Major Atkinson, Premier ; Mr. McLean, Commissioner of Trades and Customs ; Mr. Wakefield, Native Minister ; and Mr. Mitchelson, Public Works. The portfolio of Colonial Treasurer has not yet been decided. [from our own correspondent.] The following four members will compose the new Ministry: Mr. Wakefield. Major Atkinson, the Hon. G. McLean, and Mr. Mitchelson. Mr. Tole was offered a portfolio, but declined. The others are not yet known.
