(Per Press Association.) ANOTHER SPECIAL SETTLEMENT. Auckland, August 27. It is rumored in town that the brig Robin Hood, which left Sydney a fortnight ago, had arrived at Kaipara, and been quarantined. Messrs Federli and Murphy, from Christchurch, have purchased 55,000 acres of land at Hokianga for special settlement for subtropical industries. Fifty families are to be introduced yearly for three years. An application of the executors of Costley’s estate for 5 per cent, commission, amounting to £5OOO, for their services, was heard in Chambers to-day, when the Judge allowed them only £lOOO. Blenheim, August 27. A large right whale, which is expected to yield ten tons of oil, valued at £260, was captured in Tory Channel on Sunday afternoon. It is the first right whale captured in these waters for 13 years.
