The Hawea Ashore.
[Per Press Association.] Auckland, August 5. During a dense fog this morning a mishap occurred to the steamer Hawea. The vessel left the Manukau wharf at 8 o’clock, and when she had proceed a mile and a-half down the harbor she ran aground on a sandbank and remained fast, all attempts to back her proving futile. When the fog cleared the vessel was discovered a considerable distance out of her course. The vessel is perfectly safe and uninjured. She will probably be kedged off to-night, and sail to-morrow.
