Financial Statements.

[Reuter’s Telegrams.] Melbourne, July 17. The Colonial Treasurer made his Financial Statement in the Legislative Assembly last evening. It showed that the revenue during the past financial year amounted to L 5,900,000 and the expenditure to L 5,800,000, the former amount being L 150.000 above the estimate. The total revenue from railways amounted to L 2,080,000, and the income from this source together with that from the supply of water was equal to four per cent, on the total indebtedness of the colony. The Treasurer’s estimates for the current financial year amount to L 6,490,000, and the expenditure is put down at L 6,400,000. It is proposed to increase the excise duty on spirits by 2s. two shillings per gallon. In the financial statement last night Mr. Service confirmed the fact that the Oriental Bank owed Victoria L 438,000. He expressed the belief, however, that the colony would not lose anything. It is announced that the Government intend to terminate the existing agreement with the Associated Banks. The debt of the colony now amounts to L 27,500,000. Hobart, July 17. The Treasurer made his Financial Statement last evening. He estimated the revenue for the current year at L 573,000, and the expenditure at L 17,000 less.
