[Per United Press Association,] THE LICENSING ACT. Auckland, July 11. The Licensed Victuallers have resolved to support the introduction into an amended Licensing Act, the following provisions :— “ That the Electoral Roll shall be the roll to be used at the elections for Licensing Commissioners, That if Licensing Commissioners shall refuse the renewal of any license on the ground that the house was not required, the owner of such house shall be entitled to fair compensation for such refusal. That any person feeling agrieyed at the decision of the Licensing Commissioner, he shall have a right to appeal to a higher Court.” FOUND DEAD. Wellington, July 11. A station hand named Stokes was killed yesterday, in Awatere, by a fall from his horse. Deceased was subject to fits.
