[Per United Press Association.] Christchurch, July 4. Wm. Pillam, for attempted suicide, and H. H. Hunt, for the forgery of a cheque for £6 10s. on the Bank of New Zealand, were committed for trial. Auckland. July 4. The Telephone, a new half-penny paper, has been started. A new trial has been granted in the “ surgery at sea” case, Eggs v. Webster. Three natives — Haikuki, Kewheta, and Mutai —have been arrested on the Pukekura Block, at the instance of Mr. B. Walker, for destroying a bridge. No resistance was offered by them. At the Supreme Court, Wm. Cogan, for attempted suicide, was imprisoned until the rising of the Court. Elizabeth Dunn, for bigamy, was ordered into a recognisance of £lOO to come up for judgment when called upon.
