An Election Contest.
PECULIAR ASSAULT. [Per Press Association.] Auckland, July 3. An altercation took place in Queen-street to-day, between Mr. Dargaville and Mr. Swanson, both of whom are standing for City West, when Mr. Swanson exclaiming, “ Do you mean to call me a liar,” struck Mr. Dargaville with his stick, causing a slight abrasion of the skin of the face, from whi ch the blood appeared. Mr. Dargaville immediately got into a cab and drove to the Club.
