(reuter’s telegrams.) HER MAJESTY’S JOURNEY. London, May 5. Her Majesty the Queen will return to England from Darmstadt, on Tuesday next, TRANQUILITY RESTORED IN PEKIN. Hong Kong, May 4. The latest intelligence from Pekin, states that that city is now in a state of peace, no disturbances or anti-foreign demonstration having occurred for some time past. The preparations for the defence of the city and augmentation and improvement of the Imperial army, however, are being continuously made, and the fortifications in the neighborhood are being rapidly pushed forward. (AGE SPECIALS.) Ter Tarawera at the Bluff.] INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION. London, April 24. The Lord Mayor of London yesterday opened, at the Crystal Palace, London, the International and Universal Exhibition, of which Mr. Collins Levy is Executive Commissioner. The opening ceremony was of an imposing nature. The Exhibition, which includes arts, manufactures, and scientific, agricultural, and industrial products, was visitJd by large crowds during the day. A statement is current in diplomatic circles to the effect that Mr. Service, Premier of Victoria, and Mr. Bray, Premier of South Australia, will probably receive the honor of knighthood. Mr. John Mclntyre, member for Maldon in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, has increased the capital of the Maldon Mining Co., which he is floating in London, from £70,000 to £130.000. Sir Henry Parkes, formerly Premier of New South Wales, has succeeded in floating the Australian Freehold Investment Co., with a capital of £1,000,000.
