The total quantitiy of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 3,180,000 quarters (sic. 2,180,000). Best Sydney copra remains at £l9 10s per ton. Best sides Australian leather 10|d. The steamship Orient arrived at Plymouth to-day, with a cargo of frozen meat, from Melbourne. The Assassinations in Ireland. February 11. The trial of tha Phtenix Park murderers was continued at Dublin to-day. Kavanagh, the car-driver, who was arrested by the police, has turned informer, and in the course of his examination gave conclusive evidence regarding the assassination of Lord Frederick Cavendish and Mr Burke. He described the manner in which the crime was perpetrated by the prisoners Carey, Blaney, Kelly, and Brady. Kavanagh also admits that he drove the car used by the assassins of Feild. The case has been adjourned to Thursday next, the 15th inst. The trial of the Editor of the “ United Ireland,” who was arrested on Dec. 25, when that newspaper was confiscated by the police on account of the publication of seditious articles, was brought to a conclusion to-day. The jury were, however, unable to agree, and a new trial has been ordered. The Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone, who was expected to return here to-day from Cannes, is still at that place. His return has been postponed indefinitely. Sir Stafford Northcote returned here yesterday from a cruise in the Meditcrrmoan. Cardinal Maccabe, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, is seriously ill, and his condition is stated to bo critical by his medical attendants. The trial of the prisoner Dowding for the murder of Detective Cox in Nov. last, was concluded to-day. The jury found prisoner guilty, and was sentenced to penal servitude for life. Mr Ashton W. Dilke, iun., Liberal member for Newcastle upon Tyne, resigned his scat in the House of Commons. ST. PETERSBURG, Feb. 10. A serious outbreak of Nihilism has occurred in the army now occupying the Caucasus. Recent telegrams state thp.t several officers have been placed under arrest. PARIS, Feb. 9. The indictment of sedition against Prince Jerome Bonaparte who was com.nitted for trial on the sth inst., has been quashed, and Prince Jerome has been released from custody. BOMBAY, February 9. The death is announced of Sir Salor Jung, G.C.5.1., of Hyderabad.
