The rebel garrison at Damictta have finally refused to surrender, and show no sign of yielding. It is expected that an attack by the British troops and gunboats will be made forthwith. Further arrests of members of the National party and Arabi’s partisans are daily being made. A large number of prominent persons have been arrested, CONSTANTINOPLE, Sept. 21. It has been discovered that a plot has been recently found amongst the adherents of the Albanian League to attack and masssacra the Christians in Scutari, a town in south Albania. The conspiracy was detected, and a number of arrests have been made.
Received 1 p.m. Sept. 23. ST. PETERSBURGH, Sept. 21. Intelligence is to hand that the Czar has reached Moscow, and has received a great oration from the people. It has now transpired that the object of his Majesty’s visit to Moscow is to attend the Exhibition now being held there, and not as was supposed for his coronation ceremony. LONDON, Sept. 12. Consols remain 100 J. New Zealand loans are unchanged. The Bank reserve is £11,800,000. The Bank rate remains at 5, and the market rate at 41 per cent. Colonial breadstuffs are dull at the last quotations. There is a good demand for hides, and full prices are obtainable for Australian, Tallow is firm. At to-day's wool sale a less demand was experienced, and the prices were occasionally easier. The catalogue comprised 11,400 bales. 22,250 hales have been withdrawn from sale since the opening sales. The Cricket Match between Shaw's 11 and the Australians, which concluded yesterday at Kennington Oval, ended in a draw. ALEXANDRIA, Sept. 21. The British Ironclads have commenced to shell Fort Ghemeleh at Damietta.
Later. Major-General Sir Evelyn Wood has been ordered to proceed with three regiments to Damietta to co-operate with the fleet in the assault on that place. Tha latest reports to hand state that Abdellab has left Damietta for Cairo, and that the rebel garrison has now yielded,
