[Reuteb's Special.] LONDON. September 1. The cricket match between the Australians and the United 11, which was commenced at Tunbridge Wells yesterday, could not be continued to-day, owing to the heavy rain which was falling. Wholesale dismissals have been made in the Dublin Police Force of men who had attended a recent meeting of malcontents. The ranks of the force have been materially thinned by the discharge. Bodies of troops have consequently been drafted off, and now occupy various police stations in the city and suburbs. A number of special constables are being sworn in to take the place temporarily of the men dismissed. September 2. The dismissal of malcontents from the Dublin Police force ha. resulted in an extensive strike of constables in that city, and owing to the absence of police from the streets serious rioting by a number of roughs took place last hight. Houses and shops were attacked and several were much damaged. Troops were called out aud charged the rioters, some of whom were severely punished. Additional special constables aro now being enrolled to assist in the maintenance of order. Dr Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, who is suffering from congestion of the lungs, has had a serious relapse, and is in a prostrate condition, The Cricket match between the Australian team and United Eleven was resumed at Tunbridge to-day. The number of spectators was again very large. The visitors wanting 3 wickets to fall, and with 131 runs to their credit, continued their first innings which closed for a total of 180. The principal scorers during the day was Bonner, who was bawled for 45, The Home team then commenced their second innings and were all disposed of for 126 runs, Thp Australians then went in for their seo nd Innings but only put together 49, The Englishmen bowled splendidly. Play was stopped when the Australians second innings closed ,* the match thus being drawn. September 3. The majority of the constables in Dublin who went on strike yesterday have since ex, pressed penitence and have returned tfl thpir duties. Further rioting which took place last night was promptly suppressed by the military. The Homeward mail via, Sues and Brindisi which left Melbourne on the 18th July were delivered here to-day, Earl Granville has made a protest agonist the quarantine regulations at Sues. It has been ascertained that the enemy is forming a camp at Salhihighe. a few miles north of the railway between Innulia and Cairo, and the work of entrenching Is being vigorously proceeded with, Consols have declined A, and ere now at par, There are no other changes to report m the money market, or in Colonial produce, i At to. day 'a wool sales 8,400 bales were j offered ; the market was firm. ing between the two forces continues in the neighborhood of Dagair. September 2. Successful efforts have been made by the Greeks aud Turkish Governments to put a stop to the fighting which for some days past has occurred in Thessaly between subjects of the two Powers. Hostilities have now ceased, pending diplomatic negotiations for the settlement of the dispute. ALEXANDRIA. September 1. According to the latest intelligence to hand from head-quarters Sir Garnet Wolseley is awaiting completion of arrangements for transport service from Ismalia to the front, before making any further movements against the enemy. Sept. 2. The Highland Brigade arrived at Ismalia to-day from this city, and will be actively employed at an early date. BOMBAY. September 2. The Government has declared Suez to lie infected and all vessels therefrom will be quarantined on arrival here. “ Argus” Special. LONDON. September 2, 2.40 p.m. A shipment of frozen meat by the steamer Austral has arrived in moderate condition and realized an average of 6d per lb. Sir Hardinge Gimird, Q.C., is likely to have early promotion to the Bench. He was appointed m 1875 and shortly afterwards received the honor of Knighthood. In 1877 he was elected M.P. for Launceston. September 3. A conference of miners at Manchester has approved of a general strike in October. Two thousand Orangemen have offered their services as special constables in Ireland, The cargo of frozen meat which arrived per steamer Lusitania averaged per lb, Quarantine regulations delay the completion of the Indian Contingent. The Imperial Government will supply the balloons asked for by Sir Garnet Wolsely. The new camp discovered is situated 10 miles from Rassassin. Turkey proposes to land her troops at Alexandria and march them to Aboukir. The Bedouins are now supplying provisions to the front. Age Special. LONDON. Sept 1, 4.25 p.m. An entrenchment that ha* been discovered in the deaert near Raaaauim will be attacked shortly by our troops. The Forte has offered to surrender the disBated frontier on certain conditions, but -reece has rejected the offer. ' Baron De Lessens has declined the proposed banquet in His honor.
