SPORTING.

OCR local sporting men are reminded of tho fact that the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club will be held this evening at the Albion Club Hotel. We hope to see a large attendance of members. By the kind permission of Mr George Bumand we were permitted yesterday to have a look at Director and The Cat. The former has thickened greatly, and will carry more beef during the coming season than ho has ever yet done. Ho looks healthy and well, and should make it hot for moot of them. The Cat is as neat a little animal as anyone could wish to see. He is known to possess gameness, and the horse that beats him must have both foot and stamina. We con. gratulate Mr Bumand on having two such animals in his care, as we are rather inclined to think they will secure to him one or two good things in the meetings to come.
